Essential Items for Umrah - Part 2

Even though it is the last month of the Gregorian Calendar, the Islamic Calendar is already in the third month known as Rabi al-Awwal, the month in which Muhammad (PBUH) was born. Because of this, it is important to start looking to book your Umrah trip. But what items should you take? Well, you don’t have to worry anymore, because we have compiled a list of a few essential items that you would need to take with you on your Umrah pilgrimage.

    Comfortable Footwear

Especially when considering the terrain that you will be dealing with during your Umrah trip, some comfortable shoes, slippers, or sandals would be a great thing to take with you.

    Cleaning Essentials

When in the hot weather of Saudi Arabia, it is important to keep as clean as possible; hygiene is an important aspect though Umrah. However, one important thing that needs to be remembered is that the cleaning products -  shampoo, shower gel, and even deodorant – need to have no scent whatsoever. If they are scented, you will not be able to participate in the pilgrimage

    Toothpaste, Toothbrush, and Comb/Hairbrush

These are incredibly useful, as they help to keep your hygiene to a maximum in the hot, humid weather. You can’t realistically go on a pilgrimage without brushing your teeth or combing or brushing your hair, so always treat hygiene as a top priority!

    Medication if Necessary

As well as maintaining a high level of hygiene, it is also important to keep track of your physical health. The hot weather in Saudi Arabia can lead to serious health risks, such as heat stroke, exhaustion, and dehydration.

To make sure that your health is kept in check, if you require any medication, always ensure that you have enough for you to take throughout the pilgrimage period. Also, even though it isn’t something that you can take with you, make sure that you undergo the full health checks before you fly to Saudi Arabia.

One of the most important things that you need to undergo before your flight is to get the meningitis vaccination, as well as providing the Meningococcal Meningitis vaccination certificate to officials when you are traveling. Your health is one of the most prioritised things when going on a pilgrimage, whether the Hajj or Umrah one.

There are a few other items that you could possibly take with you, but if you have the bare essentials, then you will be sorted when going on your sacred pilgrimage.
