    Hajj – Journey of a lifetime

    All Muslims from all walks of life have a common objective to accomplish in Islam and that is severe acknowledgement of the five pillars of Islam. Embarking on a Hajj pilgrimage to the holy Mecca is one of the most important responsibilities of a Muslim. The purpose of visiting this holy land is to worship in the birthplace of this marvellous faith.

    According to the Quran, “In it are clear signs [such as] the standing place of Abraham. And whoever enters it shall be safe. And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way.” Al Quran 03:97

    This explains the significance of making such a journey and the multiple rewards in store for the pilgrim. However, what remains undiscussed more often is the status of the heart while contemplating such a pilgrimage. The Quran through the Islamic faith has spoken of the obligation of Hajj and its compulsion to strive to obey the five pillars of Islam. What about the heart in these matters?
